About This Call

THE WORLD OF THE HETEROSEXUAL IS A SICK AND BORING LIFE is a mini-fringe festival, raising money for our trans comrades who are incarcerated in prisons and by ICE. After the venue's cut, all proceeds will be donated to organizations and mutual aid that supports this mission. The mini-fringe will take place June 26th, 27th, and 28th in the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. With tech rehearsals the week of June 23rd. We are seeking the experimental, the obscene, the lewd, the lascivious, the trashy, the silly, the absurd, the hard-to-watch, the disgusting, the foul, the filthy and the rough-around-the-edges. This can take the form of performance art, strange theatre, puppetry, drag, storytelling, movement, rituals or anything else that requires time in space. The only requirements are that its weird and queer. Submit anything that fits your interpretation of what that means. Feel free to submit multiple proposals. Note: This festival takes place in a diy venue. We have limited tech and are looking for works that embrace fringe mentality. Set up and take down should be minimal. If selected, you will get one tech and one performance. Although this is an unpaid opportunity, you will receive photos of your performance and complimentary passes for the rest of the mini-fringe for you and a friend. We are so grateful to those who chose to donate their time to help us raise money for our incarcerated trans siblings.
