About This Call

The City and County of Honolulu Commission on Culture and the Arts is commissioning a work of art for Mililani Mauka District Park, located at 95-1069 Ukuwai Street, Mililani, Hawaii 96789. This request for proposals is open to all artists qualified to work in the City and County of Honolulu. The budget for this project is $10,000.00, all-inclusive, covering artist's fees, fabrication, transportation, installation, project documentation, signage, taxes, and insurance.

The artwork will be installed on the front exterior elevation (facing northeast) of the existing comfort station at the park. The artwork must be wall-mounted, permanently installed, and made of durable outdoor material. The anticipated goal is for the selected artwork to reflect the Mililani area, possibly sports or Native Hawaiian sports, and be appropriate to the park facility.

All artists able to qualify to work for the City and County of Honolulu are eligible to apply. Artists must be eighteen years of age or older and attest that submitted materials are authentic representations of their work. To receive payment, artists must register with the City and County of Honolulu's Vendor Self Service System and obtain a Vendor Number. Prior to awarding the commission, the artist must be registered to do business in the State of Hawaii and be deemed compliant on the State of Hawaii Compliance Express system. Applications must be submitted through the CallforEntry.org online system by January 8, 2015 at 7:59 pm Hawaii Standard Time. Three finalists will be selected and may be contacted to present proposals; all finalists will receive a $400.00 honorarium. The final selection will be made by the Commission on Culture and the Arts on May 7, 2015.
