MidtownHOU Arts Micro Grants 2021

The midtownHOU Arts Micro Grants total $50,000 to be distributed to individual artists and arts organizations located in Houston, TX. Organizational Grant Projects receive $5,000 to $8,000 each ($25,000 total available), and Artist Grants are $2,500 each ($25,000 total available). Applicants must be willing to collaborate and bring multi-cultural engaging projects to the Midtown Houston community.

This call is open to Houston art organizations, Houston area professional artists, artist teams, and designers age 18 or older and eligible to work in the United States. All applicants must work in a capacity-building partnership with a local or regional artist, artist teams, or culturally based organizations. If selected, artists and arts organizations must provide a project open to the public. Projects should address one or more of the following social injustice issues: voting, climate change, healthcare, refugee crisis and immigration, body autonomy, racial injustice, gun violence, or LGBTQ+ rights. Multi-cultural mediums include music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and creative writing. Projects should encompass a focus on multiculturalism and partnerships, with programming for youth encouraged.

Applications require 4-8 images, 0-2 audio files, and 0-2 video files. Two letters of reference are required by June 5, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The application deadline is June 6, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Previous midtownHOU Arts Micro Grant recipients (2018, 2019, or 2020) and board members or family members of the Midtown Management District, Midtown Redevelopment Authority, TIRZ #2, or Midtown Parks Conservancy are not eligible to apply. Selections will be announced July 7, 2021.
