About This Call
The MidSummer Art Celebration Juried Exhibit is a regional exhibition open to artists in Hawaii. Entry fee is $15 per submission, with a maximum of five entries per artist. An additional $15 media fee applies. Submissions must include 1-5 images. Videos are accepted for entry submission with a $3 surcharge per video.
Submission window closes Friday, May 15 at 5:59 PM. Artists will be notified by Wednesday, May 20. Artwork can be dropped off at Wailoa Center (200 Piopio St., Hilo, Hawaii) on Saturday, May 30 between 10:00am-1:00pm. For Kona submissions, drop-off is at Donkey Mill on Friday, May 29 at 10:00am. Off-island work must be received by Friday, May 29 and must include a prepaid return label plus a $10 shipping and handling fee.
The exhibition opens Friday, June 5 with a reception and awards ceremony from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The exhibition closes Wednesday, June 24. Artists must pick up work Thursday, June 25 between 10:00am-1:00pm, or at Donkey Mill in Kona on Friday, June 26 at 10:00am. The juror is Iliahi Anthony, a Hilo-based maker and designer specializing in fiber, wood, and metal work. Monetary prizes will be awarded. Works are required to be for sale, with HIAA charging a 20% commission on all sales.
