About This Call
The Midnight Open Call Juried Exhibition seeks work exploring truths revealed in solitude and darkness. Artists are invited to submit work that reflects on moments of introspection and honesty, addressing questions such as: How do we speak to ourselves about ourselves? What are our true desires? What or who do we really want the day to bring to us?
Juror Jamaal Barber is a printmaker and mixed media artist based in Atlanta. He received an MFA in Printmaking from Georgia State University in 2018 and currently teaches as a visiting lecturer. His work has been included in the Decatur Arts Festival, Atlanta Print Biennial Show, and various Metro Atlanta art shows. He has created work for Twitter, the New York Times, Penguin Random House, Black Art in America, and Emory University.
Artists may submit up to 10 image files or three audio/video files for a $15 suggested donation. Submissions must include works created within the last three years. All works must be created prior to submission and framed/mounted/displayed according to professional gallery standards. Eligible artists must be over 18, currently reside in the Atlanta Metro area, and fit the parameters of an emerging artist with minimal solo exhibition experience, minimal published art criticism, and minimal grant/private funding. The gallery accepts all 2D and 3D mediums, including painting, drawing, collage, digital, printmaking, fiber art, mixed media, sculpture, and ceramics.
