About This Call
Mid City Merchants is seeking qualified artists or artist teams to submit qualifications to design and implement an exterior, site-specific sculptural piece of original design for Mid City in Baton Rouge. This commission is open nationally to professional artists 18 and over, though proposals from Louisiana artists are highly encouraged.
Applicants must submit: an artist résumé demonstrating a minimum of five years of professional visual art experience (not student work); a statement of interest describing why you are interested in the project, previous experience with public art, your work media, your connection to or interest in Mid City, and how you believe the art will enhance the chosen space; references including names and current contact information for three individuals with whom you have worked, collaborated, or who have commissioned your work; and six images of original completed commissions demonstrating your qualifications. Each image must include the title, medium, dimensions, project budget in US dollars, year completed, location, and description. Only one view per image is permitted; 3-D models, sketches, drawings, and unexecuted conceptual projects will not be accepted. Up to three videos of work examples are optional. Images must be JPG or PNG format, maximum 5MB per image with 30MB total. Physical submissions will not be accepted.
Incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted. Contact [email protected] with questions.
