Mid America Pastel Society Juried Exhibition

This is a juried exhibition open to all pastel artists 18 years of age or older. The top layer of the painted surface must be at least 80% pastel, with no oil pastels permitted. Artwork must have been created within the last 3 years and not previously accepted into any MAPS juried shows or exhibitions. Original artwork only is eligible; works must be from your own photographic reference and not created on top of a photographic image. No portion of the artwork or source material may be created or referenced using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Work created from instructor-provided references is not eligible. All subjects and styles are eligible except nudes. Maximum framed size is 32" on any side.

Awards include Best of Show ($1,200), Second Place ($750), Third Place ($500), and Student Award ($250, limited to enrolled students ages 18-22 with proof of eligibility required upon acceptance). Awards of Merit and Honorable Mentions will also be announced. Entry fees are: MAPS members $45 for 3 artworks ($10 each additional); non-members $55 for 3 artworks ($10 each additional); students $20 for 3 artworks ($5 each additional). Maximum of 5 artworks per artist. MAPS membership dues of $30 may be paid online prior to entry. The entry deadline is August 1, 2025.

Submit high-quality JPEG image files at least 1200 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Crop images to show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background. Artwork must be suitably framed in gallery-quality frames, wired and ready for hanging; metal frames and sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. Upon acceptance, artists will receive shipping/delivery instructions. Artists who withdraw accepted work prior to delivery will be banned from MAPS shows for 2 years.
