Mexico City Exhibitions & Artists Residency

Art Gallery Studios & The Bureau of Queer Art support exhibitions and residency opportunities for contemporary Queer and Allied artists to explore representation, identity, and themes of outsiderness. The gallery seeks artists to feature in upcoming exhibitions, residencies, podcasts/magazines, and coinciding exhibitions.

Selected artists will participate in a 3-month online exclusive exhibition listed on the gallery's website and ARTSY sales platform. Artists will receive either a feature (1-3 pages with write-up and pictorial) or a full article (3-6 pages with write-up, interview, and full pictorial spread) in the physical publication. Select artists will be interviewed for the podcast available on all podcast platforms. Featured artists receive a gratis copy of the issue. The Autumn exhibition will have a virtual opening reception where participating artists and publication contributors are invited to join a panel discussion moderated by The Bureau of Queer Art Director.

Art Gallery Studios & The Bureau of Queer Art is a Dama Gallery satellite exhibition space located in Colonia Juárez, Mexico City, housed in a 3-story former residence with 1,200 sqft of combined exhibition space, curated by Micheal Swank. Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. All artwork must be original and unsold, with the artist owning sole copyright. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each (maximum 20 images). Dama Gallery retains a 50% commission on sales. Sales remittance to artists occurs 5-7 business days post-exhibition and/or upon buyer payment finalization. Entries submitted by 4/30/2024 are for exhibition consideration, with notifications sent throughout the month at the curator's discretion.
