About This Call
Tubac Center of the Arts, in partnership with International Encaustic Artists, presents "Metamorphosis," a national juried exhibition of artworks created with encaustic, hot, or cold wax paints. The exhibition supports both 2D and 3D artworks and is open to all artists over the age of 18 working in these mediums. Artists are urged to enter work that is innovative in concept and approach, whether representational or abstract.
Artwork must be original, entirely the work of the artist, executed within the last 24 months, and cannot have been previously shown at TCA. No art may be removed from the exhibit prior to the close of the exhibition on November 14, 2021, including sold art. Up to four works may be entered for consideration. Entry fee is $35 ($30 with TCA Member discount), plus $4 per additional entry image up to 4 total entries ($2 each with TCA Member discount). IEA Members receive a $10 discount on entry fees. All work must be for sale; TCA will retain a 40% commission. Artwork must arrive ready to hang, suitably matted in white, black, or neutral colors, simply framed, and firmly wired with no sawtooth hangers.
Jurors are Susan Stover and Lisa Pressman. Awards totaling $1,200 will be presented: Best of Show ($500), Juror's Award ($300), Award of Excellence ($200), Award of Merit ($100), and two Honorable Mention Awards ($50 each). The exhibition runs October 1 – November 14, 2021. The opening reception is Friday, October 1, 5-7pm. Jurors will teach a workshop, "Advanced Encaustic - Layers of Meaning," at Tubac School of Fine Arts, October 2-4, 2021. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from TCA and must provide a barcoded preprinted PREPAID shipping label for return of artwork.
