Metal Arts Guild: Conspicuous

Conspicuous is an intimate jewelry exhibition presented by the Metal Arts Guild (MAG) of San Francisco in collaboration with Monday Spaces and Anzfer Farms. The exhibition runs November 10-21, 2011, at Monday Spaces in San Francisco's Richmond District, concurrent with MAG's 60th Anniversary Symposium, Forging Communities. An artist reception is scheduled for November 10, 2011.

The exhibition explores jewelry as a visual experience and the role these objects play when taken out of a functional context. Anzfer Farms will create interactive, custom displays for showcasing the featured work in personal settings. Jurors Sienna Patti of Sienna Gallery, and Jonathan Anzalone & Joseph Ferriso of Anzfer Farms will select work from a national call for artists.

The call is open to artists within the United States who make jewelry. Applicants do not need to be current MAG members. Jewelry must have been made within the last 4 years. Up to 3 pieces (2 images per piece) can be entered, with a maximum of 6 total images. The application fee is $25, payable by credit card. The call is open to the first 150 applicants only. Selected artists are responsible for shipping or hand-delivering work to the venue by a specified date. Local artists must pick up work at the end of the show; MAG will handle return shipping for non-local work. Work does not have to be for sale but is encouraged, as the custom displays will be available for sale. Applicant notification is scheduled for August 10, 2011.
