Messina Hof Texas Artist Wine Label Competition 2023

The 33rd Annual Messina Hof Texas Artist Wine Label Competition invites artists to create artwork depicting the theme of "REVITALIZATION," with guidance from the concepts of reinvention, rejuvenation, and restoration. The winning artwork will be featured on a bottle of Messina Hof wine.

Top Finalists selected by a panel of judges (including Messina Hof owners and the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley) will be invited to submit physical artwork and will receive an invitation to display and sell artwork at the Wine & Roses Festival on May 6-7, 2023, at the Messina Hof Estate Winery in Bryan, with a complimentary table (over 1,000 attendees expected), plus a pair of tickets to the 2023 Harvest Festival in August. Judging is based on: (1) Appropriateness of Materials, (2) Reducibility and Appropriateness for Intended Use on Label, (3) Appropriateness of Theme, (4) Workmanship, and (5) Overall Impression. Festival attendees will vote for their favorite artwork among finalists.

The 1st place winner receives $1,000, artwork displayed on Messina Hof wine labels with artist name and title, permanent display in the Messina Hof Gallery, invitation to the Harvest Grand Finale Dinner in August 2023, social media recognition, and a certificate for a Private Tour & Tasting for 10. The 2nd place winner receives $250, social media recognition, and a Private Tour & Tasting certificate for 10. The 3rd place winner receives $100, social media recognition, and a Private Tour & Tasting certificate for 10. Entry fee is $25 for the first digital submission and $20 for each additional submission. Digital submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. MDT on March 24, 2023. Finalists will be notified on March 31, 2023, and framed physical artwork is due by 5:00 p.m. on April 14, 2023. Artwork must be picked up by 5:00 p.m. on May 26, 2023. The 1st place artwork, including frame, title, and copyright, becomes the property of Messina Hof Wine Cellars, Inc. All shipping expenses and liability remain the responsibility of the artist.
