About This Call
Crooked Tree Arts Center – Traverse City presents Merry Marketplace, an annual indoor holiday art market celebrating handmade, original artwork. The event offers three participation options creating a month-long opportunity for holiday shopping.
Option 1 is the Expanded Holiday Gift Gallery (November 7 – December 13) in the Cornwell Gallery, featuring curated, juried handmade art in all mediums priced between $6 and $100. Artists receive 60% commission with CTAC handling sales through their inventory system. Option 2 and 3 are Pop-Up Art Markets on Saturday, November 22 and Saturday, December 6 (10 AM – 4 PM), featuring artist booths in festive settings with cookies, coffee, holiday music, and hands-on workshops. Pop-up participants handle their own sales and are responsible for Michigan sales tax.
All work must be original, handmade pieces by the artist – no mass production or commercial kits allowed. Applications require five high-resolution images including current work and a booth photo for pop-up consideration. Standard booth spaces are approximately 8'x6' for $75, with artists providing their own tables and linens. CTAC provides chairs and electricity access. The application fee is $10 non-refundable, with acceptance notifications by October 26, 2025.
