About This Call
Merged II is d'Art Center's second national exhibition of collage and assemblage, featuring original unique 2D and 3D artworks including found objects, recycled materials, paper, fiber, wood, and metals. Collages and assemblages must be free standing, wall mount, or pedestal ready. Work may be no longer than 60 inches in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds. The exhibition will include an in-person public reception according to state COVID guidelines, a Facebook Live broadcast of the reception awards, and a YouTube video. Exhibiting pieces will be listed for sale on the d'Art Center website.
This is a juried exhibition co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and exhibition juror Andy Harris, a Norfolk-based artist and arts educator with a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. The exhibition runs from Saturday, May 1st through Sunday, May 23rd, 2021, with a reception on Thursday, May 6th from 5:30-7:30pm. Notifications will be sent by email by 5pm on Monday, April 12th, 2021. Accepted works must arrive by Friday, April 23rd, 2021.
Eligibility is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 works (one image per submission) with an additional $5.00 for each submission beyond 3 (maximum of 10 submissions). Submissions require 3-10 images. Awards include 1st Place: $500.00, 2nd Place: $300.00, and 3rd Place: $150.00. The d'Art Center is located at 740 Boush Street in Norfolk, Virginia, in the NEON District.
