About This Call
Merged is an exhibition of self expressive collage and assemblage artworks that effectively convey artists' thoughts, feelings, and/or ideas. Original works in both 2D and 3D are welcomed, including mediums such as found objects, paper, fiber, wood, and metals. Collages and assemblages may be free standing or wall mounted. Work may be no longer than 48 inches in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Each artist may submit up to 3 works, with 6 image submissions allotted to allow for detail images.
Open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States, this exhibition is held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The d'Art Center, established in 1986, provides the community with exhibitions and art education programming and houses working professional artist studios. Exhibitions take place in d'Art's Harbor Group International Gallery in the NEON district of Norfolk. The exhibition runs September 8 - October 6, 2018, with a reception on Thursday, September 13, 5:30-7:30pm. Juror Peter Eudenbach is Chair of the Art Department at Old Dominion University.
Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 works. Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $150. All work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit. All styles and aesthetics are considered. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Submissions due Friday, August 10, 2018. Notifications by email Monday, August 20 by 5pm. Accepted works must arrive by Saturday, September 1, 2018. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels via UPS or FedEx. Commission is 60% artist/40% d'Art Center, not including awards. For questions, contact the gallery manager at [email protected].
