About This Call
Mending: New Uses for Old Traditions is a southeastern regional exhibition open to artists living or working in NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TN, KY, and VA. The exhibition will feature work created with or about traditional media or representations of women. This exhibition is sponsored by the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Department of Art and Art History and is being held at the UNCW Art Gallery in conjunction with the 2014 Southeastern Women's Studies Association conference.
Eligibility is open to artists living or working in the Southeast United States. Entries of original work in all media, free-standing or wall-mounted, will be considered with a primary focus on work created with or about traditional media or representations of women. All artwork must be installation ready and cannot exceed UPS or FedEx weight or size limits. Each artist may submit up to three pieces along with an artist statement. The entry deadline is January 15, 2014. Artists will be notified via email on January 29, 2014. Work delivery deadline is February 19, 2014.
The exhibition will be on view February 27 through April 4, 2014 in the Art Gallery at the Cultural Arts Building on the UNCW campus. A reception will be held on Friday, March 28 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. A commission of 30 percent will be retained by UNCW on all sales. All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
