Memento Mori

Art Saint Louis presents "Memento Mori," a juried exhibition open to artists 18 years and older living within 200 miles of St. Louis, Missouri. The exhibition seeks artworks in all media that honor and remember loved ones who have passed, as well as works that examine death, consider mortality, address the fragility of human life, and celebrate lives lived. All explorations and interpretations of this theme are encouraged.

Eligibility is limited to artists residing in the St. Louis region and surrounding 200-mile radius. Artworks must be created between 2020-2024 and not previously exhibited at Art Saint Louis. Up to 5 original artworks in any media are accepted, including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, glass, jewelry, digital art, and more. AI-generated work is not eligible. Two-dimensional works must be framed or have pre-approved professional presentation. Three-dimensional works are displayed on platforms, pedestals, or off-the-ground; ceiling-installed and floor-installed works are not accepted.

Entry fee is $25 for non-members or $10 for Art Saint Louis members. Submissions must include 1-10 images and up to 5 videos (15 total samples maximum). The entry deadline is July 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jurors will review submissions anonymously using a blind jurying process. Awards include one $250 Best of Show Award of Excellence, four non-cash Awards of Excellence, and four Honorable Mentions. Award of Excellence recipients are eligible for the "Honor Awards 2026" curated exhibit (June 6-July 9, 2026). The exhibition runs September 14-October 17, 2024 at Art Saint Louis, 1223 Pine Street, downtown St. Louis. A free reception and awards ceremony is held Saturday, September 14, 5-7 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
