About This Call
Gallerium presents Melancholy 2025, a dual exhibition and publication exploring melancholy as a source of artistic inspiration. Artists are encouraged to delve into the realm of melancholy and express their unique interpretations through any medium in 2D or 3D art forms, including somber landscapes, poignant portraits, abstract compositions, and other thought-provoking work. Suggested themes include: The Seasons of Melancholy (autumn's solitude, winter's stillness), The Melancholy of Memory (nostalgia, forgotten spaces), Human Connections in Melancholy (poignant portraits, love and loss), Dreams and Disappointments (surrealist melancholy, weight of expectations), Nature's Melancholy (somber landscapes, nature's decay), Melancholy in Abstraction (shadows and light, muted palettes), Cultural and Historical Melancholy (mythology, historical reflections), and The Complexity of Melancholy (inner conflict, existential themes). The subject is free, and all thoughts and feelings demonstrating melancholic moodiness are welcomed.
Submission is free of charge. Up to 6 artworks can be submitted, with a maximum of 2 artworks selected per artist. Selected artists will pay a selection fee of USD 40 (or USD 34 with early bird discount). The exhibition runs from January 4 to March 4, 2025, as an exclusive online global exhibition. Selected artworks will be featured in The Book of Arts: Melancholy publication (available in digital and premium print editions) and showcased on ARTSY, a leading platform for art collectors. Up to 10 outstanding artists will receive an Honorable Mention Artist Award with a personalized digital certificate. All exhibited artists receive a digital certificate of participation, exhibition poster, artwork visibility badges, professional artist profile on Biafarin platform, and detailed performance reports with insights on exhibition visits, engagement, and sales. A money-back guarantee is available for selection fee payments until the exhibition's official opening day.
