MEED4: The Power of Identity

MEED4: The Power of Identity is Gallery19's annual art competition exploring self-portraiture and self-identity. The competition invites international artists working in painting, photography, drawing, or mixed media to submit work that explores ideas of self-identity through the power of the self-portrait.

Entry deadline is June 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants must submit 1-5 images. The juror for this year's competition is Teresa Magaña, a mixed media artist, educator, curator, and gallery owner.

Finalists will be announced on February 1, 2021. Selected finalists' work must arrive at the gallery by February 26, 2021 for the group exhibition opening on March 5, 2021 (6-9pm), running through March 26, 2021. The winner will receive a solo exhibition at Gallery19 for February 2021, a one-year contract with Gallery19 including website exposure, multi-media promotion, social media presence, participation in gallery programming, and direct sales efforts. The winner will also receive mentorship from Teresa Magaña for over a year, including work review, evaluation, and assistance developing a gallery-ready exhibition. During the opening, the juror will meet finalists, conduct an artist talk, and make the final decision to announce the winner.
