Mecklenburg County East 7th St. Parking Deck

Mecklenburg County is embarking on an exciting new chapter in the heart of uptown Charlotte with the development of a modern parking facility at the prominent intersection of East 7th Street and North College Street. This new structure is designed to support the renewed vision for the Charlotte Mecklenburg New Main Library and provide dedicated parking for library staff and Spirit Square’s McGlohon Theatre patrons. The Arts & Science Council is accepting qualifications from U.S. based artists/artist teams for a public art opportunity for the Mecklenburg County parking deck to be located at East 7th Street and N. College St. This RFQ represents an opportunity for an artist, or team of artists, to create a highly visible, wall-based relief artwork sited on the wall adjacent to the front entrance of the deck. The selected artist will work with the ASC, Mecklenburg County Asset and Facility Management, Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, and community to create artwork that is complementary to the architecture and design of the building.
