About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach is commissioning an artist or artist team for a work for hire mural on the south exterior wall of the McNair Park Civic Center. The mural theme is Sports Legends of Pompano Beach, and the design should emphasize this theme with a strong, creative presence. A site visit is not required but recommended. The location is approximately 56 feet long by 6 feet tall (336 square feet) at 951 NW 27th Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33069. Materials, design, and palette must withstand local weather and be amenable to ongoing maintenance. A UV Resistant Coating must be applied to the finished product. Logos are not to be used.
The purchase budget for the project is $15,000.00, which includes all insurance, taxes, fees, permits, and installation. Three artists will be shortlisted and paid an honorarium of $200.00 each. Shortlisted artists must submit detailed design proposals including mock images and a detailed budget list.
Artists can submit up to three separate applications. Required application materials include: resume, artist statement regarding approach to the project, and examples of past artworks similar to this project (minimum 3, maximum 5 images). An optional quick sketch of design may be included. The project is open to all professional artists nationwide. Artists are not eligible if they are immediate family or business partners of members of the Public Art Committee or program staff.
