McKnight Printmaking Fellowship

The McKnight Printmaking Fellowship recognizes and supports midcareer artists living and working in Minnesota. Two selected artists will each receive a $25,000 unrestricted award, access to Highpoint's state-of-the-art printshop, technical support from the fellowship coordinator, professional development opportunities through Springboard for the Arts, storage space and materials, access to Highpoint classes, group discussions and critiques with local and national experts, a McKnight Printmakers' exhibition with public talk and reception at Highpoint, professional digital documentation of exhibited artwork, the opportunity to participate in a later artist residency through a partnership with the Artist Communities Alliance, and Highpoint supporting membership.

Applications must include 15 images of work made within the last 10 years (each incorporating one or more printmaking techniques), a resume or CV (maximum 5 pages), and a statement of artistic practice (maximum 2 pages). Images must be in JPEG or JPG format, under 5MB, and 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side. All images must have been printed by the applicant artist and be clear and professionally presented. Up to two video files may be submitted as part of the image sample.

To be eligible, applicants must have or maintain Minnesota residency for at least one year prior to application and for the duration of the fellowship year, be midcareer with a body of work demonstrating sustained accomplishment and artistic excellence, not have been a recipient of a McKnight Artist Fellowship within any artistic discipline in the last five award years, not be staff, board, or immediate family of the McKnight Foundation or fellowship administrative partners, and not be enrolled full-time in an academic program. Prior recipients must demonstrate growth and ongoing artistry since their most recent McKnight Artist Fellowship. Applicants can only apply to one McKnight Artist Fellowship in any artistic discipline within a year. The fellowship period runs February 2021 through January 2022, with the fellowship exhibition at Highpoint in January 2022. A panel of two jurors will review applications remotely and select finalists, who will host the jurors for studio visits before final selections are made.
