About This Call
The City and County of Honolulu Commission on Culture and the Arts is commissioning a work of art for the McCully-Mō'ili'ili Fire Station, located at 2425 Date Street, Honolulu, Hawai'i. The budget for this project is $10,000.00, all-inclusive, covering artist's fees, fabrication, transportation, installation, project documentation, signage, taxes, and insurance.
The artwork should depict a historic event of Mō'ili'ili, preferably the Battle of Mō'ili'ili which took place on January 7, 1895. The artwork will be wall-mounted on the exterior wall of the northernmost portion of the west elevation of the building at the first floor level. The artwork must be made of bronze or another durable outdoor material and shall not exceed 104 inches in width and 68 inches in height.
All artists able to qualify to work for the City and County of Honolulu are eligible to apply. Artists must be eighteen years of age or older and must register with the City and County of Honolulu's Vendor Self Service System and obtain a Vendor Number. Prior to award, artists must be registered to do business in the State of Hawaii and be deemed compliant on the State of Hawaii Compliance Express system. Applications must be submitted through the CallforEntry.org online system by January 7, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Three finalists will be selected and may be contacted to present proposals; all finalists will receive a $400.00 honorarium. Final selection will be made by the Commission on Culture and the Arts on May 7, 2015.
