About This Call
The City of Eugene invites artists who live or work in Eugene to submit work for the juried Mayor's Art Show. The exhibition will be held in the Maurie Jacobs Community Room at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts from July 27 through August 25, 2018. Established, emerging, and student artists are encouraged to apply.
The Mayor's Art Show celebrates local artists and visual art production, recognizing the accomplishments of artists committed to enriching their communities. The show aims to cultivate diversity, equity, and access to the visual arts. A panel of artists and art professionals will review all applications. Artists will be notified by June 24. Awards will be given based on conceptual strength, artistic merit, innovation, craftsmanship, and materials. Award categories include Mayor's Choice, Juror's Choice, and Peoples' Choice.
Eligibility and Requirements: The $15 entry fee applies. This exhibition is open to all residents who live or work in the City of Eugene. Accepted media includes 2D, 3D, and digital artworks (digital must be self-contained and managed by the artist). Work must have been completed since January 1, 2016. For submissions: 2D work requires one image (one additional detail image may be included for a total of two); 3D requires two to four images (one additional detail image may be included for a total of three to five). Artists may submit images of one artwork for jury consideration. Artists not selected for the Mayor's Art Show may participate in the Salon des Refusés. For accepted work, prices may not be changed after submission. Work should be marked "NFS" if not available for purchase. All objects sold must remain on display for the exhibition duration. A 25% commission will be paid to the City of Eugene by the artist at closing. By submitting an entry, artists grant permission for the City of Eugene to use accepted images on its website, in brochures, promotional materials, and publicity. Artists retain copyright and will be given attribution.
