About This Call
The Eugene Mayor's Office Cultural Services invites artists who live, work, or have a connection to Eugene to submit work for the Mayor's Art Exhibition, a juried annual exhibition. The exhibition will be open at the Eugene Downtown Library from October 6-29, 2023. An art curator will select artworks for the exhibition based on available space and artwork dimensions. Emerging artists and students are encouraged to apply.
The Mayor's Art Exhibition (MAS) is part of the Visual Arts Week and celebrates local artists and contemporary visual art in Eugene's public spaces. The exhibition is organized by a selection committee composed of local artists and art professionals. There are no entry fees. Eligibility is open to all community members who live, work, or have a connection to the Eugene area. Artists must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. Artworks must be completed after January 1, 2022, and ready for exhibition, including framing and/or wiring for gallery display. 2D, 3D, and digital artworks are accepted. Digital works must be independent and managed by the artist.
Work samples must include 1-5 images (2D artworks: 1-2 images; 3D artworks: 2-5 images with at least one detail image), up to 1 audio file, and/or up to 1 video file. 2D artworks have a maximum height of 60 inches including final framed dimensions. 3D artworks must include weight information. Submissions are made through the CaFE online application system between May 31 and July 12, 2023. Artists will be notified of acceptance by late July. Awards will be given based on conceptual strength, artistic skill, innovation, craftsmanship, and use of materials in the following categories: Mayor's Choice, Jury Choice, People's Choice, and Curator's Choice. Artworks must be available for photography in August for online exhibition documentation.
