Materialized: Juried 3D Printed Art

The University Art Gallery at Central Michigan University is sponsoring a juried exhibition of 3D printed art to celebrate the opening of the MakerBot Innovation Center at the university. The exhibition is open to all artists. Artists must use 3D printing in the production of their work, and the work must be original and created in the past two years. Works must be able to fit through a door that is 75 x 64 inches and must arrive ready to exhibit.

Exhibition dates are January 13 – February 11, 2017. The juror is Josh Harker, an American artist known for his work in 3D printed art and sculptures. At least $1,500 will be awarded, with the juror selecting awards from the actual works at the University Art Gallery prior to the opening reception. The opening reception and announcement of awards will be held January 12, 2017, with an artist talk by Joshua Harker.

Entry fee is $35 for up to three entries, submitted through CaFÉ with JPG images. Applicants may submit 1-9 images and 0-3 videos. The entry deadline is November 28, 2016. Notification of jurying results will be sent December 7, 2016. Accepted work should be received at the University Art Gallery January 2-6, 2017. Artists are responsible for delivery and return of artwork, including arrangements, costs, and insurance during transit. Shipped works will be returned with a prepaid shipping label from the artist.
