Material World: A Contemporary Fiber Art Exhibition

The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is seeking submissions for Material World: A Contemporary Fiber Art Exhibition, a juried exhibition of contemporary fiber art. Artists are invited to submit 2D or 3D textile and fiber artwork that expands the definition of 'fiber art' and pushes the boundaries of the medium. Mixed media, painting, sculpture, and collages are acceptable if they incorporate a textile or fiber component. Artists may submit a maximum of three original works that have not been previously exhibited at the Arts Council of Cumberland County. The entry fee is $10 for up to three submissions; fee waivers are available upon request.

The exhibition is open to all international and US artists 18 years or older. All submissions will be juried by a committee of local artists. Selected works will receive cash awards: 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $500, and 3rd Place $250. Accepted works must arrive ready to install by Thursday, July 20, 2023, and must remain on display for the entire exhibition. The Arts Council retains a 30% commission on all sales, and all work must be available for purchase.

Accepted works should be delivered between July 17-20, 2023, to The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, 301 Hay St, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Works must include pre-paid return shipping labels. The exhibition opens Friday, July 28, 2023, with an opening reception from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and closes Saturday, September 9, 2023. Hand-delivered works must be picked up between September 11-14, 2023.
