About This Call

Material II is an exhibition of original fiber artworks from across the United States. The exhibition highlights the quality and variety of fiber art and is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in fiber. Mixed media works are welcome as long as fiber is a major component. This juried exhibition will be co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and exhibition juror Liana Graham, Visual Arts Department Chair at The Governor's School for the Arts.

The exhibition is held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk's NEON district, which is anchored by the Chrysler Museum of Art and Harrison Opera House. Exhibition dates are Saturday, October 10th through Saturday, November 7th, 2020, with a reception on Thursday, October 15th from 5:30-7:30pm. Artists will be notified by email by 5pm on Monday, September 21st, 2020. Accepted works must arrive by October 5th, 2020.

Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without instructor or kit assistance, and produced within the last eight years. Work cannot exceed 40 pounds or be longer than 48 inches in its longest dimension. Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 works (one image per submission). Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $150. Sales commission is 60% artist/40% d'Art Center. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery and must provide pre-paid return labels through UPS or FedEx. For questions about work eligibility, contact [email protected].
