Masur Museum of Art's 61st Annual Juried Competition

First started in 1964, the Annual Juried Competition is the Masur Museum's longest-running tradition and one of its best-reviewed exhibitions each year. Annually, 700-1000 recent artworks are submitted by artists all over the nation, in all styles and media. The Masur Museum is proud to offer cash awards totaling $3,200.

This year's guest juror is Kerry Inman, owner and director of Inman Gallery in Houston, Texas. Founded in 1990, the gallery has hosted over 200 exhibitions in its 33-year history and represents emerging and established artists with a connection to Texas. Kerry also serves on the board of the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston.

Entry Requirements: Artists must be over 18 years old and reside in the United States. All work must be completed on or after December 31, 2021. There is a $10.00 fee per entered artwork with a minimum of two entries and a maximum of five entries. Fees are non-refundable. Work samples may include images (0-5), audio (0-5), or video (0-5), with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 total samples. Two-dimensional work cannot exceed 85" in height and 60" in width. Three-dimensional work must be no more than 84" tall with no more than a 40" x 40" footprint and maximum weight of 200 pounds. Three-dimensional work must be submitted with a description or image of proper installation and dimensions. Video works must be submitted in their entirety with a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Artist statements should be limited to 250 words or less. There is no specific theme.

Awards: Best in Show is $1,000.00. Total awards are $3,200.00. An additional "Best Packed" award of $100.00 will honor the artist who packs their art in the most professional manner. Awards will be given at the reception. Artists do not have to be present to receive awards. Checks will be mailed after the reception. A notification will be sent via email announcing award recipients.

Important Dates: Online submission deadline is December 14, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists are notified of the juror's selections via email on January 15, 2024. Artwork delivery period is February 5-16, 2024. Exhibition runs February 22 – May 4, 2024 at the historic Masur Museum. Accepted work may be for sale during the exhibition; the museum does not take a commission on these sales.
