About This Call
The Brooks Art Academy offers a six-month masterclass designed to help artists hone their vision in creating a cohesive body of work and articulate that vision to the world. The curriculum features recorded lectures on creativity, time, intention, and flow, along with bi-monthly live sessions in a group setting. Participating artists gain access to Fireside Chats and live critiques with artists, curators, publishers, and other art professionals.
The masterclass focuses on four main aspects of professional art development: studio practice, where artists work towards beginning and refining a series of works centered around a topic, style, and idea of their choosing; curriculum including lectures and studio visits with excerpts from well-known artists such as Lari Pittman, Rosson Crow, Rebecca Campbell, Annie Lapin, Chris Trueman, and Enrique Martinez Celaya; professional development, guiding artists in communicating their work through writing, catalogues, websites, and film; and community and critiques through live sessions, fireside chats, and access to a private online community.
Requirements: Minimum 2 years experience working with a particular medium and age 22 or older. Participants must have internet access and Zoom for class meetings. The workshop cost is $2,400 over 6 months, billed at $397 monthly. The $35 application fee does not guarantee entry. Applications are submitted via Callforentry.org, and applicants will be informed of acceptance following the interview process.
