About This Call
MASSC Metal Arts Society of Southern California invites artists to submit works for Metal Extinction: Using Metal to Honor and Make Permanent our Vanishing World. This exhibition challenges artists to honor and commemorate extinct and endangered species in works of metal that demonstrate mastery in technique equivalent to the beauty and grace of the vanishing natural world. The exhibition emphasizes metal artisanship, unexpected creation, and masterful use of metal that becomes something ageless.
Entry fee is $35.00. Artists must submit 2-6 images of their work. First Prize: $1,000, Second Prize: $500, Third Prize: $250, plus Honorable Mention and Public Choice awards. Jurors are David Freda, Barbara Hendricks, and Marne Ryan. The exhibition will be on display at Saddleback College Gallery from September 8 through October 3, 2014, with an opening event on September 13. Artists will be notified of acceptance by July 18, and works must be received by July 29. Selected works will be returned by mail or picked up by the entrant on October 6. MASSC membership is required to enter; special exhibition membership rates are available starting at $5.00 for students and $8.00 for individuals.
