About This Call
REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Tacoma General Hospital seek artist proposals for donor recognition wall installations as part of the Building Dreams Together: The MultiCare Campaign for Healthy Children.
The campaign focuses on enhancing hospital sites and the visitor experience while celebrating art's role in the healing environment. Two walls will feature approximately 300–500 donor names at different levels, with additional smaller pieces to be commissioned for rooms and other spaces. The Level 3 Tacoma General Hospital wall is 18' wide (16' at 9' high, 2' at 8' high). The Level 6 Mary Bridge Children's Hospital wall is 14' long and 7'4" high. Commissioned pieces should be healing, pleasing, calming, and tasteful, engaging both children and adults while reflecting the spirit of giving. Artwork may be constructed of any durable and cleanable material including glass, ceramic, stone, wood, or acrylic. The approximate budget is $150,000, including all materials, artist fees, insurance, fabrication, installation, and related costs.
Eligibility is open to all artists and designers living or working in Washington State. Artist teams are encouraged to apply. Submissions must include: letter of interest, concept description, budget or cost estimate, resume/bio, 3 client references for large-scale commission projects, and up to 10 high-quality JPEG images (minimum 150-ppi, no more than 2MB each) with accompanying image list. Three to five finalists will be selected to develop firm proposals. The selection timeline includes finalist notification by September 24, site visits by September 30, final proposals due October 10, artist selection by October 17, and installation scheduled for February 9–13 with unveiling March 1. Submit all questions to Kimberly Kent at [email protected].
