About This Call
The Martha's Vineyard Drawing Prize is the 4th annual competition established to encourage excellence in drawing. Open to artists 18 years and older who are residents of the United States or Canada (including territories).
Entries may be created using graphite, charcoal, Conté, silverpoint, pen & ink, or other suitable drawing media including colored pencils and chalk. The theme for this year's competition is 'Home'—how you interpret this theme is entirely up to you. Your drawing could address the concept of home, a home you have known, feelings that evoke home, home as shelter or safety, or any other interpretation of the theme. Drawings must have been created after January 1, 2020, and drawings created in classes or workshops are not accepted. Each artist may submit up to 3 works. Categories of drawing can include academic, realistic, contemporary, fantasy, historic, and others. Submitted images must represent the work's true appearance and not be altered digitally.
Entry fee is $10 per submission. The submission deadline is Monday, September 12, 2022. This is an online-only competition; no need to frame or send artwork. Prizes include 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $400, 3rd Place $300, with additional awards to be announced. Winners will be announced Saturday, September 17, 2022. Finalists' work will be displayed on the Martha's Vineyard Drawing Prize website for a minimum of one year, including biographic information and links to their websites/social media, and will also be displayed on the main Instagram account @mvdrawingprize. All entries will be randomly displayed on the @mvdrawingprize_showcase Instagram feed after the competition concludes. For more information, visit www.mvdrawingprize.com or contact [email protected].
