About This Call
The Maricopa Community Colleges sponsor a district-wide competition to encourage and recognize student achievement in visual arts. Two categories are offered: 2-D (Two-Dimensional Art) and 3-D (Three-Dimensional Art).
Eligibility: Students must be registered in an art class within Maricopa Community Colleges and can only submit work completed while enrolled in an MCCCD art class during Spring 2022, Summer 2022, Fall 2022, or Spring 2023. Students can submit up to 4 pieces, each uploaded separately, with up to 2 views per piece allowed. Previously submitted work is not accepted. Artists who have previously represented the district in the League of Innovation National Competition are not eligible for that award again but may enter the show and display their work.
Submission Requirements: Work samples must be submitted as JPG or JPEG files, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side. High-quality images at 72dpi and 2000 pixels on the longest edge are required for judging. For 2-D work, maximum size is 30" x 40" and 30 pounds; for 3-D work, pieces must fit on a 20" x 20" pedestal and weigh no more than 60 pounds. 2-D work must be framed and wired for exhibition; 3-D work must meet space and handling restrictions.
Winning entries will be displayed at the Paradise Valley Community College Art Gallery for the MCCCD Artists of Promise gala on March 21, 2023, with the exhibition running through April 7, 2023. The 5 League of Innovation award winners will have their work included in a full-color anthology produced by the League of Innovation and submitted to the national competition for additional judging and awards. All exhibiting student artists will be provided a Liability Waiver Form and Talent Release Form to sign and submit prior to exhibition. Work in the Artists of Promise Gala is not for sale, but artists can leave contact information with the show coordinator.
