Maricopa Community Colleges 2014-2015 Choreography and Dance Performance Competition

This competition is open to students enrolled in for-credit dance classes at any Maricopa Community College during the 2013-2014 school year. Full-time or adjunct faculty enrolled in college courses are not eligible. The competition includes two categories: Choreography (solo and group) and Dance Performance (solo and group). Solo works must be 3-5 minutes; group works must be 4-12 minutes. Students may submit a maximum of one work in each category, and the same work may be submitted for both solo choreography and solo performance, or both group choreography and group performance. Choreography must be original student work. Performance choreography must be student work, not created by faculty. Dancers must be students taking for-credit dance classes at Maricopa Community Colleges during the 2013-2014 school year.

Entry deadline is Monday, February 10, 2014. All entries will be notified by Tuesday, February 18, 2014, with adjudication appointments on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Failure to appear at the appointed time withdraws the entry from the adjudication process. First Place works in each category will be performed at the Artists of Promise performance on April 8-9, 2014 at the Orpheum Theater. All First Place winners are expected to be available for both the dress rehearsal and the performance. Awards will be presented at the Artists of Promise Performance on April 9, 2014. In the Choreography Competition, awards are made to the choreographer only. In the Performance Competition, awards are made to the performer(s) and dancer(s).
