Margins

Margins explores the space around a page of text; the edge of the image, the border of a country; the perimeter of an ocean; the amount of profit or the difference between winning and losing: outside the norms; on the edge of vision; living on the edge; outsiders. Where do your margins begin and end? A margin of error might be a saving grace, but falling outside the margin can mean anything from stepping off a curb to falling off a cliff. Core Art Space invites all artists of any mediums, 2D and 3D (except video/installations) to explore this liminal space.

Entries must be submitted electronically by August 18th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT and accompanied by a $35.00 fee for up to 3 works. Submit 1-3 images. Work must be no larger than 48 inches on its longest side, including frame. Judging will rely on overall impact, content, composition, mastery of techniques, creativity, and craftsmanship. Please list all media used in the description field for your entries.

Juror Joe Higgins is a well-respected Colorado artist working primarily in monotypes. He has taught classes in monotype at the Art Students League of Denver since 2010 and has shown in many venues including Boulder Art Center, Sangre de Christo Arts Center, Colorado Springs Fine Art Center, and the Aspen Art Museum. In 1988, he was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship by the Colorado Council on the Arts. Notification of acceptance will be sent on or before Thursday, August 22, 2024. All accepted work must arrive at Core Art Space (6501 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214) by Friday, September 6th, 2024 at 4 p.m. The exhibition runs Friday, September 13th through Sunday, September 29th, 2024, with an artist reception on Friday, September 13th from 5:00-10:00 p.m.
