Marblehead Arts Association Variations 2023

The Marblehead Arts Association (MAA) invites artists from across the country to participate in Variations 2023, an 8-week juried exhibition of 2D and 3D artwork. All mediums are welcome. The exhibition runs April 22 through June 18, 2023, with an opening reception and awards presentation on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

Artwork will be juried for acceptance and judged for prizes in three categories: Fine Art, Photography, and 3D works. Cash prizes of $1,000, $250, and $100 will be awarded in each category. Judges include Susan Anderson (Curatorial Research Associate, Harvard Art Museums), Crista Dix (Executive Director and Curator, Griffin Museum of Photography), and Kendall Brinson (Director of Learning and Engagement, Fuller Craft Museum). All applicants must be 18 years or older. Submissions accepted or exhibited in Variations 2021 or 2022 are not eligible.

Entry fees are $35 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry (maximum 3 entries). MAA members receive a $10 discount on their first entry. Artists may submit digital images for up to 3 pieces of artwork. All submissions must be for sale. If accepted, the work sent for exhibition must be the same work represented in the images used for judging. Artwork must be hand-delivered or shipped to the MAA by April 12, 2023. A pre-paid return-shipping label must be enclosed with shipped work. If artwork is sold during or within 30 days after the exhibition, the artist receives 60% of the sale price and the MAA receives 40%. The MAA is located at 8 Hooper Street, Marblehead, MA 01945.
