Mandalas

The Loading Dock Gallery invites artists to submit original artworks inspired by mandalas for this exhibition. Mandalas, meaning circle, hold significant spiritual and psychological meaning across many religions and traditions, particularly Hinduism and Buddhism. They represent the cycle of existence and serve as tools for meditation, focus, and spiritual connection. Mandalas take many forms—Circle Mandalas symbolize the womb and motherhood; Lotus Flower Mandalas represent enlightenment; Elephant Mandalas signify power and strength; Flower Mandalas represent all creation and good health; and Geometric Mandalas observe the mechanisms of nature and human structure. The gallery will serve as a space of peace and quiet contemplation for this exhibit.

Entries must be original artworks completed within the last five years. No reproductions are accepted. All artwork must be for sale. Video, projection, and performance work will not be considered. Artists must submit 1-3 images of their work. The entry fee is $35.00. This exhibition is open to artists over 18 years of age in the New England region.

As part of the 7th Annual Poetry Convergence, invited area poets will preview the exhibit and create poems responding to the artwork. The poems will be recited in the gallery following the reception and recorded for the gallery.
