About This Call
The Martin County Art in Public Places program is seeking artists to create a mosaic and wayfinding signage for the newly constructed Manatee Pocket Mooring Field facility in Port Salerno. The mosaic will be approximately 7 feet tall by 6 feet wide, located on the back wall of the single-story structure on SE Park Drive. The artwork should celebrate the rich local culture, history, and natural beauty of Port Salerno and Martin County while integrating with the surrounding architectural aesthetics inspired by Florida Vernacular design. The complementary wayfinding signage will highlight and direct visitors to key amenities including the boardwalk, fishing docks, park facilities, and kayak launch within the mooring field area.
The project budget is not to exceed $15,000, which must cover all costs including design and site plan, production, transport, installation, site preparation, travel expenses, and required insurance. The building will be open by the end of February 2025. Artists must submit a statement of interest (maximum one page), a professional resume (maximum two pages per artist), three to seven renderings of proposed designs in JPG or PNG format at 300dpi and 5MB maximum file size, and a signed disclosure statement regarding any professional or personal relationships with Martin County officials or advisory committee members. The project is open to professional artists from the region with experience implementing work in the public realm and collaborating with public agencies. The Public Art Advisory Subcommittee will review applications and recommend finalists to the Public Art Advisory Committee, with final selection made by the Martin County Board of County Commissioners.
