About This Call
Jane's Art Center, The Hub on Canal, and Café del Soul are hosting the second annual Making Waves Exhibition with the subtitle A Manifestation of the Next Golden Age. The exhibition runs June 7 – July 26, 2025. Accepted artwork will be displayed across multiple venues: The Hub on Canal's Founder's Gallery, Café del Soul, and Jane's Art Center's Exhibition Gallery, which will exclusively feature clay and ceramic pieces.
Artists are invited to create work that challenges negativity and fosters hope and inspiration. The exhibition explores concepts of the Golden Age—a time of prosperity, peace, cultural flourishing, and achievement—and manifestation, the practice of using thoughts, beliefs, and actions to bring goals into reality. All mediums are welcome, with strong encouragement to incorporate upcycled materials presented in a refined, fine arts approach. 2D artwork should not exceed 30 x 30 inches. 3D artwork should be constructed for easy movement by staff. Note: This year's challenge is not related to literal waves or the ocean.
Application fee is $10, due by May 19, 2025. Submissions must include a brief artist biography and 4-6 clear, well-lit, high-resolution photographs of the actual artwork. Artwork drop-off is May 28, 2025; pick-up is July 31, 2025. Artists are responsible for transportation. Selection criteria include artistic excellence, concept, scale/material/form, community values, safety, educational and professional background, relevance to the exhibition's goals, and appeal to the target audience. Awards include People's Choice Award, Best of Show, Most Creative Use of Repurposed/Upcycled Materials, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place in 2D and 3D categories. A 35% commission applies to all sold artwork. Prior gallery experience is not required.
