About This Call

Making Our Mark: Art by Pratt Teaching Artists is a commemorative exhibition at Bellevue Arts Museum celebrating Pratt Fine Arts Center's 40th Anniversary. The exhibition features work from Pratt teaching artists who have been instrumental to the organization's success since 1976. Teaching artists who have shared their talents with Pratt students are invited to submit their best work for this group exhibition. Each submitting artist will be represented by one piece.

The exhibition is curated by Michael W. Monroe, Director Emeritus of the Bellevue Arts Museum and former Curator-in-Charge of the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Eligibility is open by invitation to any artist who has taught a class at Pratt Fine Arts Center from 1976 to 2017, across all visual art disciplines. Artists must submit 1-3 artworks for consideration (2 or more encouraged), with a $15 entry fee. Each artwork requires one quality digital image. As part of the application, artists should list the year(s) and discipline(s) they taught at Pratt and provide 1-3 sentences describing what Pratt means to them. All applications must be submitted through CAFÉ's online portal by July 2, 2017.

All artworks must be available for the entire run of the exhibition from late October 2017 through April 2018, including installation and de-installation periods. Artwork must be display-quality with no inherent condition issues. A loan agreement will be required after curator selection. Costs associated with packing, shipping, and delivery of artwork are the sole responsibility of the artist. Selected artworks must be delivered to Bellevue Arts Museum in late October 2017 (dates TBA). Pickup or return shipping must be arranged within one week following the close of the exhibition in late April/early May 2018. Exhibiting artists will vote to determine Best of Show and two Honorable Mention works, with cash awards of $1,500 for Best of Show and $500 each for Honorable Mention.
