About This Call

The Peekskill Arts Alliance (PAA), with funding from the Peekskill Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), seeks proposals from professional artists or artist collectives interested in creating site-specific art installations as part of the "Making Connections" project. Artwork will be installed at multiple locations in Peekskill and may be printed and/or painted on aluminum sign writing panels, walls, or vinyl banners. The timeline for installation will be staggered, with a grand opening of this and other DRI projects to take place in Fall 2023.

Three sites are included in this RFP: Peekskill Brewery (artist compensation $1,000, total budget $2,700, theme focused on the Historic Peekskill Waterfront and connection between past and present uses); Beanrunner Cafe (artist compensation $750, total budget $1,500, theme highlighting music, specifically jazz); and the area between Dain's and Lincoln Depot Museum (artist compensation $1,275, total budget $2,775, theme focused on liberation and resilience, honoring Peekskill's history as a stop on the Underground Railroad and hub of abolitionist activity).

Artists must submit: current resume/CV highlighting relevant experience, artist statement, 5-10 images of original completed artworks, Work Samples Checklist, letter of interest, and 3 professional references or reviews of completed artworks. Eligibility is limited to artists and artist collectives with a proven track record. Artists will be notified of selection by June 15, 2023. Installations at privately owned sites are subject to owner approval; projects at community-based settings require cultural sensitivity and coordination with community members; projects on municipal, DOT, or MTA property require approval from relevant authorities.
