About This Call
LexArts Inc. in association with Maker's Mark Distillery seeks artists to create a Verre Eglomise commissioned work that celebrates the history of handmade craftsmanship in Maker's Mark bourbon and the importance of water and nature in the distilling process. The artwork will be a focal point in a new bar area of the Victorian Homeplace where guests begin their distillery tour experience. The Verre Eglomise piece will not exceed 9' x 12' and will be surrounded by a display of Maker's Mark bottles.
The project budget is anticipated to be $60,000 - $100,000+, negotiable but must include travel, research, design, execution, insurance, taxes, site preparation and materials. Three experienced Verre Eglomise artists will be selected as finalists. Finalists will receive a $1,000 stipend to develop a design and deliver a site-specific proposal. If an artist travels to Kentucky from another state, an additional $600 travel stipend will be provided. One artist or artist team will be selected to realize their proposal by Fall 2022. There is no application fee.
Applicants should submit a current resume and up to 10 digital images of past artwork through callforentry.org. An optional one-page artist statement describing public art experience and interest in the project may be included. The deadline for artist qualifications is March 10, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Selected finalists will be notified March 15, 2022 and invited to visit the site between March 16 - April 29, 2022. Finalist proposals are due April 30, 2022, with final artist notification May 5, 2022. International artists are eligible to apply. For more information, contact Nathan Zamarron at [email protected] or 859-255-2951.
