MAEA K12 State Adjudication Call for 2022

The Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA) offers its members the opportunity to showcase outstanding artwork produced by students from all regions of Michigan. This call is open to all K-12 levels: elementary, middle school, and high school.

Submissions are accepted from January 15, 2022 until February 7, 2022. Results of pieces accepted into the State Show will be posted by February 14, 2022. Members may submit two total works per level if applying straight to State Adjudication, or 1 to 5 total submissions if selected by jurors from a Regional Show. No more than two pieces by an individual student at high school level; one piece by an individual student at elementary and middle school levels. Submitting teachers must be current MAEA members. Student teacher members may submit work by supplying their cooperating teacher's contact information.

Work samples may include up to 5 images and/or 5 videos, with a minimum of 1 total sample and maximum of 5 total samples. Original 2-D or 3-D artworks only are considered. All pieces chosen for the State Show must be wrapped in acetate (high school pieces may be framed), have a learning statement attached using the MAEA Student Information Forms, have permission to publish on file, and be physically available February 26, 2022 through May 21, 2022. A Google Slide of state adjudicated chosen pieces is due by March 15, 2022.

State exhibitions will be held at The UM Taubman Gallery (K-8, March 15 - May 15, 2022) and The Downtown Ann Arbor District Library (Secondary/HS, March 15 - May 16, 2022). Additional exhibitions include the Michigan Department of Education (May 2022 - May 2023) and the Governor Traveling Show (May 2022 - May 2023). Additional awards are automatically adjudicated: Top 15 pieces Elementary, Top 15 pieces Middle School, Top 18 pieces High School, and Top 30 High School pieces for the Governor Traveling Show (3D will not travel).
