Made in VA 2022

Made in VA is an annual juried exhibition celebrating regional artists at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). The exhibition will be on view October 8, 2022 – February 5, 2023. All artistic mediums created between 2019-2022 are eligible for submission. Artists must currently reside in Virginia. The entry fee is $35.00.

Work sample requirements: Submit between 1-5 total samples, which may include up to 5 images, 3 audio files, and/or 3 video files. Two-dimensional work must be ready for installation with hanging devices, not exceed 84 inches in any dimension (including frame), and not exceed 75 lbs. Three-dimensional work must not exceed 84 inches including base and must not exceed 75 lbs. Previously created installations are accepted; submissions should be flexible to fit any gallery location (outdoor installations cannot be accepted). Art exhibited in previous New Waves/Made in VA exhibitions is not eligible.

Prizes include: Best in Show ($2,000), Second Place ($1,500), Third Place ($1,000), Honorable Mentions ($750, 2 awarded), Director's Choice ($1,000), and People's Choice ($750). All prize winners will participate in digital studio visits with curators. The juror is Bana Kattan, Pamela Alper Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Submissions open May 23, 2022, with an entry deadline of July 12, 2022. Acceptance notification is August 12, 2022. Artists are responsible for delivery and return shipping of accepted artworks.
