Made in VA

Made in VA is the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art's annual juried exhibition celebrating regional artists. For over 25 years, MOCA has maintained a tradition of bringing together top jurors with talented contemporary artists from Virginia. This year's juror is Grace Deveney, a curator and art historian who is Associate Curator of Prospect.5: Yesterday we said tomorrow, a New Orleans-based contemporary art triennial, and was previously Assistant Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

All artistic mediums created between 2018-2021 are eligible for submission. Two-dimensional work must be ready for installation with hanging devices, not exceed 84 inches in any dimension (including frame), and weigh no more than 75 lbs. Three-dimensional work must not exceed 84 inches including base and must weigh no more than 75 lbs. Previously created installations are accepted; submissions should be flexible to fit any location within the gallery (outdoor installations cannot be accepted). Video and sound works are accepted with a limit of 3 entries per application. Artists are responsible for delivery and return shipping of accepted artworks. All artists must currently live in Virginia to be eligible.

Entry fee is $35.00. Submissions open July 6, 2021. Acceptance notification will be sent September 20, 2021. Artwork delivery is October 11-15, 2021, with the exhibition opening November 12, 2021.
