About This Call
Made in the USA: Comics to Counterculture is a juried art exhibition celebrating artists 18 years and older who work in sci-fi, fantasy, surreal illustration, dark art, manga, comic book art, and related genres. Juried by Joey Feldman, the exhibition bridges the gap between traditional fine art and illustrative and genre-based art. The exhibition runs July 16 to August 1, 2025, at The Artists Gallery (TAG), South Gallery, 5458 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, California. An in-person reception and awards ceremony will be held Saturday, July 19, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Artists may submit up to 6 original artworks per artist as JPEGs or up to 2 video submissions. Artwork dimensions, including frame, are limited to 70 inches high by 45 inches wide, with a maximum weight of 25 pounds. All submitted artworks must be original, for sale, of the artist's execution, and not previously shown at TAG. Entry fee is $40 for the first artwork and $10 for each additional artwork (up to 6 total). The submission deadline is June 23, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Acceptance notification is June 25, 2025. Artwork delivery is between July 9-12, 2025 (in-person hand drop-off or shipment). Large-scale sculpture and video equipment must be delivered July 12 and installed July 14 between 1 and 7 p.m. Artwork pick-up is Saturday, August 2, from 1 to 7 p.m.
Awards include Certificates of Excellence for each category represented (Comics and manga, Concept, Book, Editorial Art, Illustration, Posters, 3D characters and creatures). The Grand Prize Winner receives a week-long solo show at The Joey Feldman Gallery in Los Angeles. Two runners-up receive a shared weekend pop-up exhibition at The Joey Feldman Gallery. TAG receives a 40% commission on artwork sold during the exhibition and for 30 days after it ends. All artwork must remain on display until Friday, August 1. Invited artists shipping artwork must include a prepaid return shipping label.
