Made in Colorado 2023

Made in Colorado is a biannual juried exhibition celebrating diverse and groundbreaking art being made throughout Colorado. The exhibition will take place in CU Denver's Emmanuel Art Gallery and the CU Denver Experience Gallery (formerly Next Stage). The opening coincides with the American Alliance of Museums' annual meeting, bringing thousands of museum professionals to Denver.

The Emmanuel Art Gallery is housed in the first building in Colorado on the National Historic Register, built in 1876 as an Episcopalian Chapel and later converted to a Jewish Synagogue. When the Auraria campus was built in 1973, the Emmanuel became one of Colorado's earliest contemporary art galleries. The Experience Gallery is located in Denver's Performing Arts Complex across from the Buell Theatre.

This year's jurors are internationally renowned curators Kerry Brougher (Curator Emeritus at the Smithsonian Institution and Founding Director of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures) and Nora Halpern (art historian, educator, and curator at Americans for the Arts). Eligibility is limited to artists who live and work in Colorado. All media are accepted, including installation, video, sculpture, photography, and 2D work. Submissions must include 1-6 images or up to 1 video, a brief bio (under 250 words), and CV/exhibition history. Submissions are due by April 1, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Acceptance decisions will be made by April 15. Art drop-off is May 5-6, with the opening reception on May 20, 2023. The exhibition runs May 20 through July 21, 2023, with art pick-up on July 22 and 24.
