Luminosity

B Extraordinaire Gallery invites artists to submit 2-D works for an online, juried exhibition themed around luminosity. The theme explores the state of emitting or reflecting bright light, particularly light that comes from within—such as dappled light in a forest, sparks in a night sky, sunlight on water, or light reflecting on a face. Artists are encouraged to create works where the intensity, purity, and vibrations of light strike a chord on the body and mind.

The online exhibition will run from October 1 to November 30, 2021. All artists 18 years and older are eligible to enter. Work must be 2-D original art completed within the past 3 years and not copied from published photos or the work of other artists. Each artist may submit up to three artworks for an entry fee of $30 ($10 for B Extraordinaire members). Images must be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side with a maximum file size of 5 MB. The submission deadline is September 3, 2021, and selected entries will be notified by September 22, 2021.

Co-jurors are Carol Ferring Shepley, a retired professor of art history and former art critic for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and Virginia Becker, who earned her Masters' degree in Art History from American University and has worked at Christie's and the National Gallery of Art. Jurors will award cash prizes of $150 for Best of Show, $75 for Second Place, and $50 for Third Place, along with official award certificates. B Extraordinaire Gallery will receive a 10% commission for artwork sales. Artists are responsible for shipping sold works to buyers after the exhibition closes.
