About This Call
The Lucid Art Residency Program provides artists with a serene, retreat-like environment for creative exploration. In line with the mission of the Lucid Art Foundation, artists are supported in their inquiry into consciousness, art and nature. The program encourages non-representational ways of exploration through multi-media, conceptual, eco-art, and interdisciplinary approaches, with emphasis on the integration of art, process and inner awareness.
Residency benefits include housing and studio space in the Ark, a studio built in 1960 that was previously used by painter Gordon Onslow Ford, painter John Anderson, and mixed media artist Fariba Bogzaran. During the residency, artists will meet with a prominent artist and educator for feedback on their work, have access to the Foundation's Library Resource Center containing books by modern, surrealist and contemporary artists, and receive a tour of the Gordon Onslow Ford studio, home and Bishop Pine Preserve.
Eligibility requirements: Must be 18 years or older and a resident of California, Oregon or Washington. Must have an MFA or equivalent in independent studio work. Artists working in painting, drawing, installation, writing, multimedia, mixed media, or performance will be considered. Application materials must include a short bio and recent exhibition history from the last 5 years, minimum 10 images of work created within the last two years, a brief project proposal, and three professional references. Entry fee: $40.00.
