About This Call
Adams County seeks professional artists or artist teams to create ground murals that celebrate how access to nature enriches lives. Over 50 miles of trails weave through open spaces, parks, and neighborhoods across Adams County, connecting residents to recreational activities and natural landscapes.
The Adams County Visual Arts Commission will select up to 15 artists or artist teams to install ground murals on concrete paths at separate locations along the Adams County trail systems. Each selected artist/team will be awarded $5,000 to design, install, and seal one mural. Trail paths are approximately 10' wide with no minimum or maximum mural-size requirement. Mural materials must be appropriate for high-traffic, exterior locations with exposure to extreme weather. Murals will be installed throughout the summer of 2022.
Applications must include a concept statement describing your vision, approach, proposed original concept, mural dimensions, materials, budget, timeline, installation plan, and specific interest in the project. Submit a minimum of two images or concept sketches to illustrate your proposed original mural design (rough sketches and digital renderings accepted). Submit 5-10 total work samples via the CaFÉ online application system. There is no application fee. Selected artists will work with Cultural Arts staff to refine and finalize their mural design. Selected artists must enter a contract with Adams County outlining payment and installation schedules, deadlines, and insurance requirements including Comprehensive General Liability, Worker's Compensation, Employers Liability, and Automotive Liability Insurance.
